War?

It seems that war is one of those topics people are very set in their opinion, very few are on the fence. I am one of those few. I never fully understood why people wanted to go to war so badly. I couldn't come up with any major positives. I do, now, feel that there is a time and place for war. In certain instances, national security threats or civilian endangerment, are two of the reasons why going to war is necessary. However, I find it difficult to justify sending men and women to risk their lives when we as a country are not in any threat, either direct or indirect. I am not trying to un-justify any war in which we as a nation have been involved in, or really any war at that. The morality of war is open to the person, personally if someone is pointing a gun at me or planning to kill me, I will do my best to kill them first. I do not have a problem killing someone who doesn't have a problem killing other people. Some might argue that they have families and parents and blah blah blah, well that obviously didn't stop that person from wanting to kill other people. If a country is not in a financial stable situation war will not help that at all. No country is really forever indebted to another country, so there is no real obligation to go to war, as much as there is a personal drive to go to war. There is always other options and if it comes to a point where someone's hands are tied then that person screwed up. Compromises are great things, everyone is happy. Unfortunately, people get greedy and want it all.
