The War On What In The World Do I Say?

I'm going to be up front about this - this blog post is gonna suck, mostly because there's just way too much to say and debate about with regards to a topic as contentious as war, so I'm just gonna keep this brief and not go into much detail. To be honest, the prompt's pretty overwhelming.

To maybe be overly optimistic about it, I don't think there's ever a time for war. Full out warfare should be the very, very last resort. Everything else should be debated and talked through, even though that viewpoint is way too idealistic.

If things must come to war, though, it's not exactly morally right or wrong. I dunno. This is where the post gets really hazy and turns into me desperately trying to dodge the subject. I would much prefer that the world be one where we don't have to murder each other to get what we want, but the truth of the matter is that war happens regardless, on varying moral grounds. If we were in a war against, say, the Nazis, that's more morally just as opposed to killing others for our own economic or diplomatic gain. After all, Nazis are an acceptable target.

Augh, this is just such an all-encompassing and touchy subject. I guess there are some times when it's a country's responsibility to go to war, such as when they're being directly threatened by a genuine and powerful threat (not an imagined threat), but it's definitely not a country's responsibility to get into a war just for its own eventual benefit.

My personal preferred alternative to war would be that everyone just gets together, hugs, has some snacks, and calms the heck down. However, seeing as how that's impossible, I think we should all just talk it over and have a feelings jam.

Love thy neighbor, people, at least as much as possible.
