war

Is there a time for war?  I believe there is a time to defend in order to survive . I believe that time is misread a lot and that the unnecessary loss of life and money happens too much. Realistically we are a planet that will never reach that ultimate fairy tale goal of "world peace" Even if humans were to go extinct there still wouldn't be world peace. Animals fight just as we do, but for the sole reason of survival of themselves and their species. Although we are much more intellectual than most animals , I believe as silly as it sounds that we should learn from them. After all we too are really animals and much more savage in our acts of war than nearly all animals. We may be able to make the killing of our own kind look less messy and not so bad but that is just because we have the knowledge and technology to do so.  It seems we are willing to give up so much for such a small cause. Sometimes what we give up is worth it. Most of the time it's not and could be used for much better things like saving lives instead of taking them. Yeah there is a time for defense.
If there is a time, is it morally right and just or is is it the lesser of two evils?Once again it is a matter of religion. It was morally right and just for those who fought in the "Holy Wars". They saw nothing wrong with it. Other s teach an eye for an eye and that is how most war is justified, others try to turn the other cheek, but eventually  that cheek is gushing out blood  and they are left with the options of death or to fight for their life. Most of the time  the latter is chosen yet they still receive the former option whether they asked for it or not.Yeah it's all a matter of religion.
If there isn't a time, why not?
Are there certain times when countries have a responsibility to go to war? Yes, or at least under the circumstances we live in now. All the countries have allies  and enemies, and their are certain times when in order to keep their allies they must go to war. If going to war risks their own survival than sometimes they must lose an ally.
Are there any alternatives? Could they be more effective or less effective? Possibly coin tosses? No not really. They do need to be more effective and efficient, and that is no easy task at all but sometimes it seems we could focus on our goals in the war actually im not sure
