Lexington has embraced the newest theory, Streetlights Preventing Crime (or SPC), from our scientific community. The logic used comes from the same hard working geniuses who brought you the theory that a blanket can shield you from the weapons of potential murderers. Although the 'Blankets Preventing Murder', or the BPM, has been proven by countless experimental trials, Lexington will be the first trial grounds for the SPC theory.
The installation of streetlights every 8.3 feet has been an arduous project that our local government has wholeheartedly embraced. And this just the beginning. The theory of SPC enumerates the radical proposition that crime rates would decrease if streetlights illuminated all areas. Scientists rave over the added benefit that this theory could also augment our chances of the discovery of possible extraterrestrial life. As one City Council Member put it: "Surely the streetlights installed for this project will not only blind possible criminals, but also act as a beacon to passing spaceships!"
