V-J day in Times Square

File:Legendary kiss V–J day in Times Square Alfred Eisenstaedt.jpg
This picture was taken in 1945 immediately following the end of world war two, 50 years exactly before my birthday. As soldiers came back from the war, They were filled with pride, a sense of victory, and sheer happiness of being out of the fighting. This picture does an amazing job at simply relaying these feelings effectively to the public. As Americans saw this picture, the sense of pride and victory would spread from the soldiers to the general public. This would go on to shape the mindset of most Americans in the 50s, making it a very proud happy time to live in America. This picture really set the tone for the next 10 or 20 years of the nation. This picture was the first picture having to do with the war that was actually positive. People were so used to the death and destruction of the war, so this changed many people's mindsets
