Although many may not be familiar with this 1994 Pulitzer Prize photograph, it truly shocked the world. It illustrated the truth of the suffering in Africa. This picture aided in increased help given by International Non-Profits trying to prevent hunger and starvation.
Having read a short excerpt by the photographer concerning this image, I can honestly that both the subject and the man capturing the photograph suffered greatly. Kevin Carter, the photographer, was not allowed to intervene and help the child in his photograph. Shortly after, the little boy died. The emotions felt by the photographer that has been captured in the picture, rallied many behind a single cause, and has helped in saving lives.
