I think the reason why today we have such a hard time discerning from good and evil is because as time goes on some of us justify the wrong as right while others stay conservative. At least that's how I see it. I mean, look at all these conflicts over abortion and getting the death sentence. People always ask is it okay to take the life of an unborn child or a serial killer?
In the past it was simple: Thou shall not kill... thou shall not rob thy neighbor... or something along those lines. But today we justify killing with "Superman is allowed to drop this building that weighs a million tons on this guy because the guy had a plot to blow up the city" and "Robin Hood is allowed to take money from the king because the king was being greedy." Nothing is clear cut anymore. The rebels are becoming the good guys and the people that follow the law are apparently on the dark side, or vice-versa.
The line between good and evil always has to exist. It's just that there's always going to be a bunch of grey in between that also has to exist. In the end, good does come out on top. Forgive me for believing in the "happily-ever-after" ending but it is a personal blog after all.
In the end though, evil is what a person thinks is bad. Good is what a person thinks is right. It's all a matter of perspective. So as long as the people don't turn into mindless robots with no emotion or individual thought, that conflict between good and evil will always exist.
