How To Select a Writing Topic

Here I am, writing yet another last minute blog post, which are particularly difficult to remember on long weekends like this one. However, coming up with something to write about is a task far more challenging, especially for a student that only writes in response so prompts, which guide me in a direction of what to write about. The first major step of choosing a writing topic is writing down the first few ideas that pop into your head. After that, cross out the stupid ones, because they’re bound to be there.

Next, select one that you think you can write about extensively. Ok so now you’ve selected a topic, great, how do you start? Start by clearing your mind of all things other that your topic. The way I do it is I listen to music, and analyze the lyrics in context to my subject, in order to encourage thoughts that are related to what I’m writing about. So, this brief blog should get you started on  Tema Libre in Spanish Class, but as far as writing a quality piece of writing, you’re on your own on that one.
