How to Doodle

I'm not saying I'm a master doodler. I just happen to doodle A LOT. And I'm pretty sure many people can vouch for me. It's not a very difficult talent to pick up. Anybody can do it. It just so happens some people may have a (*cough) better touch at it than others. There isn't much to say about how to doodle. First of all, doodling is not the same as drawing. No, drawing consists of having a specific idea and motive in mind whereas doodling is a random act of making pencil strokes on paper when you're bored or need to create the appearance that you're keeping busy. So the first step to doodling is always having a pen or pencil plus a sheet of paper handy. It helps to have a favorite pen or pencil. The paper can be that essay for English, your physics lab sheet, your APUSH take home test, etc. (*NOTE: NEVER and I repeat NEVER on Ms. Dewees' homework... you can't spare the paper for that class). Keep these tools handy at all times. When you have a sudden urge to do anything but listen to your teacher scribble, squiggle, or scrawl over the paper until something that looks identifiable is made. Then before your teacher has knowledge look up and give them an innocent smile. Overtime the margins on all your papers will be filled up with pictures of your favorite  TV characters, your name in fancy font, and anything but homework and notes.
