Honda or Lexus?

As a teenage girl, I have been given an over-adequate amount of advice on self-respect. "How can you expect others to respect you if you can't even respect yourself" "Boys only want one thing" "Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free" the list goes on. The one piece of advice that impacted me on the topic was actually given by one of my friends. It's quite funny because some people may not think of her as the wisest, most philosophical person, but she gave me great advice. Freshman year, she told me, "Girls are like cars, the more miles you've got, the less value you have." At first, I kind of laughed when she said this, but soon it started to make sense. She's right. I think most people would rather have a new or lightly used Honda with the latest technology than a old, beat up Lexus with 180,000 miles on it. I know some people might think this is superficial of me to post this as the "most impacting advice I've ever received", but I think what my friend said is important for all girls to understand (Sorry guys, no one really cares about you). It does matter to have self-respect and understand that miles can add up. I'm not telling you to never drive your car in your life so you can keep its value, I'm saying you should decide if it's worth it, and that's what my friend was trying to tell me.
