This is for a grade. What will be left behind from this speech when I leave the classroom? Nothing. In the big picture, I will present this speech to you, walk out those doors, and then go on with my life as if it were another trivial assignment. Would this be a different case if I were in another school, in another city, in another state? America’s School Systems (later referred to as A-S-S) are passing along each kid from grade to grade and school to school until at some point they are written off as educated and tossed into the world to fend for themselves. America’s children will know less and less of what they actually need to know for the real world by the time our generation graduates if this pace continues. We need a firm grasp on A-S-S so that we together can change the narrow path paved by our generation and save those who follow. America needs to begin catering to the students educational needs and transform into a place that kids would want to come and learn not because it is required, but rather because they desire knowledge.
Every day, children file into school buildings and take a seat in front of a teacher that may or may not teach them anything. Students are not held responsible for their work, and when a problem arises, the teacher passes them on to the next teacher in line for the process to repeat itself, until eventually they drop out of school or graduate by the brim of their cap. With this quality of education, A-S-S has some serious refinements that need to be made soon or America will enter a deep spiral of failure and stupidity. Each student must be held responsible for gaining the knowledge required of the class’ curriculum. When this happens, America will be a great nation once again.
When these students enter the workforce, they will never stop trying to succeed because they were rewarded in grade school with the fruits of their labor. A-S-S must push this generation to succeed because the generation of kids that are sitting at desks ignoring their teachers and drooling on the floor right now will not be successful without a drive deep inside telling them to keep trying and never give up. We must be this drive. Our students now are no better than a shiny new car missing a transmission. The drive has been beaten out of each child starting young with problems that only require one answer. No thought, no matter, no problem solving skills, only formulas and pounding memorization allows for younger students to coast through Jr. High and then upon entering the rigorous atmosphere of High School, lose all momentum.
