I'm a punk-rock, heavy metal kinda kid. However, sometimes I like some peace every now and again. Most of the songs on this playlist aren't my typical preference of music, but for some reason, when I drive to Florida every year, I branch out a bit, these five songs are songs that remind me of summer every time I listen to them.
Always Summer - Yellowcard
This song is from this past summer, the thing that drew me to yellowcard was the unconventional use of the violin in a semi-punk band. Not only to the lyrics remind me of summer, and the title, but the memories I have of playing this song on a church trip are memories that come flooding back every single time I hear the first few notes. I love this song, and it's probably my favorite out of the playlist.
Wanderlust -Every Time I Die
Aah, back to some heavy stuff for a little. I first heard this song two summers ago right before I was about to go to the Vans Warped Tour, and they put out a playlist with this song on it. I thought it was a pretty bouncy kind of fun song and it's really fun to sing. I'm not exactly a fan of the band, but this is their one-hit-wander (haha get it?) for me.
My Leather, My Fur, My Nails - Stepdad
This song creeps me out. A LOT. But, for some reason, I bought it because I couldn't stop singing it. I came across the song on a random playlist I found on spotify. Ok I'm beginning to regret posting this song so I'll just stop here.
Re-Education(Through Labor) - Rise Against
This song is amazing. The lyrics, the band, the music, the album art, and everything else about this song is perfection. Not only does the band's constant political statements amuse me, but when I first heard this song, it made me wanna go do something rebellious and against The Man. However, it was last summer and during the summer I don't rebel, I sit at my computer all day and listen to music and googling "things to do when you're bored". So, naturally, this reminds me of the down time I had during the summer
Do it Now Remember it Later - Sleeping With Sirens
I only like this band during the summer, I can't figure out why, but it's true. I saw this song live, and the energy with which the band performed it really stuck with me, and inspired me not to just squander away my youth on worrying about school and stuff, and to enjoy the non-morgage-paying days I have right now. I only listen to this song in the summer...so, yeah, summer, music, the end.
