self-indulgent homestuck post (its a wall of text im sorry)

thats what this post is about (and im typing casually because i can and it makes it easier for me to weep about feelings)
this post is also about homestuck
its about sad brothers in homestuck
this is basically a 5 song fst (fan soundtrack) about sad brothers (those sad brothers being bro and dave)
sad brothers are the best
im probably going to cry

alright so basically to preface all of these sad songs 
uh yeah these are songs that i relate to bro and dave strider from homestuck
being
as ive said repeatedly
sad (but loving each other regardless)
and um i guess ill explain my self-indulgent headcanons (basically, thoughts/interpretations of a character that arent explicitly stated in the original work to be true, but dont actually mess with the story any) for each song as they come along

1. always gold by radical face
"we were tight knit boys
brothers in more than name
you would kill for me
and knew that i'd do the same
and it cut me sharp
hearing you'd gone away
but everything goes away
yeah everything goes away"

see look this song even explicitly mentions brothers its like it was MADE for bro and dave
alright so the whole song is sad because its essentially about one of the boys 'going away' (which, in the case of bro, you could interpret as dying or just... physically leaving dave alone)
and the singer (in this case, the singer's perspective would be dave's perspective) is sadly accepting of the fact that 'everything goes away', whether its dave coming to terms with bros death or the fact that hes never around (heres where the self-indulgent headcanon comes in: its my headcanon that bro is hardly ever at home, partly because he doesnt realize that that isnt how you should raise a kid, and also because he would have preferred to be alone when he was daves age, so why wouldnt dave?)
(extra chunk to that headcanon: bro is out of the house so much because he cant stand to be around dave because of the strain it puts on him - hes terrible about physical contact, so he cant physically show dave affection, it makes him uneasy. hes also horrible at coping with his own emotions, so when it comes time to actually show that he cares about the kid, he gets absolutely terrified and just runs away.)
hence the part in the song where it talks about three months later the other boy coming back and the singer letting him in
(wow this is just reinforcing how hard it is to explain emotions and headcanons to people who arent familiar with the source material)

2. welcome home by radical face
"peel the scars from off my back
i don't need them anymore
you can throw them out or keep them in your mason jars
i've come home"

(yeah i know its lame that i have two radical face songs but theyre both great alright)
this one goes along with my earlier headcanon about bro never being around (and this song is dave welcoming him home)
there are a whole lot of messages and nuances in the lyrics that i could rant about but ill be brief this time
the section of lyrics that ive put here just
relates really well to bro and dave
the two of them sword fight so it makes sense that bro (the singer in this case) would have scars on his back
and dave keeps dead animals in mason jars so uh
y-yeah thats
thats pretty much it
I MEAN THERES A LOT TO THIS SONG OKAY
but it mostly has to do with my self-indulgent headcanons about bro having issues with insomnia and anxiety HA fun stuff

3. kites by geographer

DANG THIS IS A GREAT SONG but anyway
um yeah the entirety of the lyrics just have a lot of things that fit bro and dave
the first line of the song, "my wings are like his" relates to the fact that theres an alternate version of dave who is part bird and has wings (named davesprite), and it was that version of dave who witnessed bros death (and since bro is dead you could say that he has 'wings' like an angel) so it all connects
and it just
its a good song okay................

4. talk by coldplay
"oh brother, i can't, i can't get through
i've been trying hard to reach you, 'cause i don't know what to do
oh brother, i can't believe it's true
i'm so scared about the future and i wanna talk to you"

yeah lookit that it says brother right there wowie
well this one works really well for bros death
because the singer (dave) cant believe that hes dead (and he obviously cant talk to bro because hes dead)
and hes scared about the future because whats he supposed to do now his mentor is dead etc etc
and then the lyrics talk about taking pictures (dave does photography) and climbing ladders up to the sun (dave literally goes to a sun, the green sun, to be specific, and dies, thus 'climbing the ladder', so to speak, and reaching GOD TIER YEAH!!!!!)
and uh
yeah
brothers wanna talk to each other because the world is a freaky place and dave needs someone he can trust mm-hmm

5. fix you by coldplay

(yeah yeah i have ANOTHER coldplay song on here which is really cheesy but whatever)

okay okay imma just dissect some relevant lyrics
"when you try your best but you dont succeed" (dave wasnt able to prevent bro from being killed)
"stuck in reverse" (dave has time-traveling powers and youd think that hed want to go back in time to try and stop bro from dying, except that would just make a doomed timeline and ITS NO USE)
and then theres the stanza that i posted up at the top and just
UGH DAVE BEING REALLY UPSET OVER THE DEATH OF HIS BRO
AND WANTING TO 'FIX HIM' BY LIKE
BRINGING HIM BACK TO LIFE OR SOMETHING (one could also make the argument - and i do because im a stupid self indulgent kiddo - that dave wants to 'fix' bro in that he wants to help him with his intimacy and anxiety issues because he wasnt able to do that before bro died YEAH DOUBLE SAD!)
and just
