While you may not expect it from such an annoyingly-cheery person such as myself, even I sometimes get to feeling down. Of course, I don't like being all mopey, so cheering myself up is of highest priority. This was the obvious thing to list a playlist for since I pretty much already have one in mind (just not in a physical playlist), because music is pretty much the sole way I cheer myself up. So here goes.
1.) Lunar Regret- ElectroKaplosion
Oftentimes when one is feeling down, it's because something is upsetting them. This is like my go-to "Calm the Heck Down" song, for reasons that are beyond me. Something about this short electronic track which switches between driving and chill just has a soothing effect on me. I have this first in the playlist because it's hard to cheer up when you're still worked-up about something.
2.) Shrooms (Interlude)- The Lonely Island
The next step in the cheering-up process is to completely derail my current mopey thought process. And what better way to do that than with 34 seconds of complete, hilarious WTF. It is impossible to not crack a (albeit confused) smile upon hearing this song. Everyone who's ever tried to cheer themselves up know that few things are as effective as a bit of random silliness.
3.) Mr. Blue Sky- Electric Light Orchestra
Now that I have (hopefully) successfully calmed myself down and derailed my sadness train, I hit myself with a concentrated burst of happy. Seriously, I'm pretty sure this is the happiest and most lighthearted song to ever exist ever. It really helps here because, while the other songs have been to throw me off any sadness I still have, this is the first song that is just plainly, simply happy, for the sole purpose of cheering me up.
4.) Triath Nan Eilean- Stephen Cumberworth
Nothing is more cheering than native music which causes deep, prideful emotions to pool up inside you. I don't know about you, but nothing can beat the sound of bagpipes in the morning (or any time for that matter). I have to be careful when placing this here because if I'm still moody when I hear this mysterious Celtic tune, it may make me moodier. But when placed right after Mr. Blue Sky, which cheers me up on the surface, this cheers me up on a much deeper emotional level. Also, bagpipes, man. Bagpipes.
5.) All That And A Bag Of Chips- Icky
If even the tiniest ounce of not-happiness remains by this point, this will drop-kick it away. Not only is it a happy, consistently upbeat electronic song, it's also one of my favorite instrumental tracks. This is just straight up a fun song, and it will always make me smile. This is last in the playlist because I usually don't need to listen to any more music after this song. I'm set for quite a while.
