1.) If you could dispense any condiment from your belly button (at will), what would it be?
2.) Why do you think the internet is so judgmental towards ponies?
3.) In your opinion, what is the basic human nature?
Yeah, that's right. Number 3. I believe that at the one driving trait core of all beings (said with zero pessimism) is selfishness. Whether we know it or not, everything we do is selfish on some level. Oh, what's that? You give thousands to charity? Ever consider that people do that so they can feel warm and fuzzy on the inside, and so that they don't feel guilty when they hear about starving children? While it's selfless on the vast scale of things, it's selfish on a personal, internal level. And here is where I most point something out: as seen here, selfishness is not necessarily a bad thing. I'm not attacking you. Selfishness can be manifested in positive ways, if harnessed to rid one of guilt and make one feel good about oneself.
WHY is selfishness so key to humanity? Well, it's actually pretty much genetic (unless you're Christian, in which case it's intelligent design. Go Jesus!). According to genetics, the purpose of life for any living creature is to survive long enough to reproduce. So, much selfishness is survival instinct, while other forms of selfishness are just people trying to get laid. Selfishness stems from those two things. We selfishly desire comfort, because comfort IS SUPPOSED TO make us more able to survive (although nowadays being too comfortable involves being absorbed into one's couch). We want to feel good about ourselves because that increases our ego, which, in theory, will get us laid (???). Selfishness is just a basic instinct. Not just that, but THE basic instinct. Every human action has a self-serving, ulterior motive, unless you are very, very stupid, in which case, good luck with that.
