Fight Night

Its 732 A.D. and the scene is ripe for a little bit of a Smackdown. In our right corner sits Charles "The Hammer" Martel and his ragtag army, guardians of the Christian faith, With only one goal in mind tonight. That's right, to check the encroachment of Islam in Western Europe. To our left, raring for a piece of Catholic action, The Moors from southern Spain. What they may lack in numbers, and organization, they make up for through spunk and religious fervor. From the outset these irrepressible Bedouins have unopposedly swept over most of the known world, Delivering some serious punishment when need be. Can our Flimsy Coalition of Holy Roman defenders match up to such a momentous force? We'll see tonight on Smackdown of the Ancient World.
Our two rivals meet just outside the village of Moussais-la-Bataille, south of Tours in Northern France. Charles is ready, and though his forces are scant , they are well equipped veterans and have the advantage of conviction on their side; knowing they are the last remaining defenders of Christianity in all the land. The Moorish Caliph's general grows anxious and initiates the battle in haste, dispatching repeated charges of cavalry against his foes footmen. But Charles' line holds! As the battle rages on the Caliph's pawn is slain, and, I cant believe it, but The Muslims are high-tailing it all the way back to Iberia. A resounding victory, and I might say that this is the one that is going to make a difference, had Charles and his valiant compatriots failed today, the future of both Christianity and the western world would be in jeopardy. But Camel-jockey's or not, you hate to see such a large and imposing force go down so easily, I'm willing to bet that this isn't the last we'll hear of the Muslims, as religion is bound to be a flash-point for the next 1300 years at least.
