I would like to be Huck Finn. Though it's been a while since
I read the book and I don't recall specifics well enough to explain exactly the
appeal he holds, his fundamental carefree adventurousness and gumption/chutzpah
are highly appealing. The guy has loads of fun doing activities which I would
enjoy deeply—exploring woods, going on a raft down and river, and so on. He is
not concerned with status or position within society, and decries those who
place excess emphasis on formality and pomp.
This said, Huck Finn’s personality is really not terrible
similar to mine. He is rash and impulsive; I would not generally describe
myself in those terms. He seems intellectually incurious, whereas to me
knowledge is important and interesting (in certain formats; when people feel
the need to demonstrate their knowledge to others I don’t always feel the same
way). But Finn’s attitude is laid back, an attitude I personally seek to
achieve and thus, I think I would like to be him.
